Why are kittens so darn cute? We've dissected thirteen of them to find the purrrfect answer. Tune in tonight at eleven for the results

Carbon Footprint

According to the calculations I've done using the many available carbon footprint calculators available online, I generate between 4.95 to 8.8 tons of CO2 a year. I've purchased offset credits for 8.8 tons a year from Carbonfund.org, so if their estimate was high, I'm picked up some of the slack from your goldbricking asses.

Also, Quiet Revolution's QR5 is impressive in its compactness and stunningly beautiful. Adding LEDs to the blades makes the wind turbines not only functional, but offers potential ad revenue for operators.

Jolt Caffeine Gum

Tastes awful.

Gwen Stefani

Should either shut the hell up or get back together with No Doubt. It's like she's competing with Fergie to create the worst possible music ever. And she's just barely losing.

Work

I'm working right now. This week I've got two Midnight to 5PM shifts. Hence the purchase of the Jolt Caffeine gum.

The best time I ever had at my old job that didn't involve slacking off or staring at Stacy from the call center's ass as she walked down the long hallway by the time clock was when I was working on the weekend out in the factory.

We were installing the new CRM client on all the computers and it wasn't going well. My boss had me waiting out in one of the factory buildings by myself. I plugged my iPod into the overhead stereo system, which was still set on 11 to compensate for the noise from the now-dormant machinery. I rocked out to the Chili Peppers and Cake while I waited for the server problems to be resolved. And when a company doubles its revenue every 18 months and barely pays its employees a living wage, it can afford a great overhead stereo system.

How many kids with ADD does it take to change a light bulb?

Let's ride bikes!

In January, I'm being tested for ADD/ADHD, and based on the online tests I've taken so far, there isn't much doubt about the outcome. On WebMD's test, I scored 44 out of 50. Anything above 25 counts as Severe ADD. I kicked ass!

I took one of the tests coryking linked to, and despite stopping and starting the test several times to check various websites and play half a mission of Saints Row, it suggested I seek a professional analysis. Fortunately my employer's insurance kicks ass and I could skip a pointless appointment with my PCP to get a referral.

Vacation

I should have enough money saved up for this trip by the end of the year. If it's available next November, I should be able to write off a large part of the trip as a business expense, provided I attend the EcoExpo in Beijing. Finally, my Dad's useful but unprofitable invention pays off.

I just scored 36 on that ADHD test.

It could explain a lot though.

After reading the symptoms, it was pretty clear to me:
  1. Failing to pay close attention to details or making careless mistakes when doing schoolwork or other activities - Check
  2. Trouble keeping attention focused during play or tasks - Check
  3. Appearing not to listen when spoken to - Check
  4. Failing to follow instructions or finish tasks - Not so much, because I usually don't listen to the directions
  5. Avoiding tasks that require a high amount of mental effort and organization, such as school projects - Like the abstract I should be writing
  6. Frequently losing items required to facilitate tasks or activities, such as school supplies - Or my damn keys every morning
  7. Excessive distractibility - Check
  8. Forgetfulness - Oh hell yes
  9. Procrastination, inability to begin an activity - Like the abstract I should have completed by now
  10. Difficulties with household activities (cleaning, paying bills, etc.) - Without a doubt

I am not sure... by Alice Pulley (4.00 / 1) #8 Tue Dec 12, 2006 at 10:38:20 AM EST
...whether this is an example of over analysis or if I can actually put a goodly amount of my fuck ups down to this.

Fingers crossed!

With the comment "severe behavioural problems not consistent with ADHD".

Which is fine as I suspect that if I was a kid again these days I'd probably be diagnosed with mild Asperger's instead.

carbon credits? by garlic (4.00 / 1) #4 Tue Dec 12, 2006 at 10:19:12 AM EST
what are these? Are they a similar scam to the 'green energy' credits that whole foods is selling?

It works like this: by thenick (2.00 / 0) #9 Tue Dec 12, 2006 at 10:45:45 AM EST
  1. I fork over money to Carbonfund.org
  2. They either plant trees to remove CO2 or subsidize green energy projects to idle coal plants.
  3. I get an in with the hippy chicks in the BioChem building.

SRSLY. I answered as honestly as possible and when in doubt, chose No over Yes. Time to look at GooTube now.

The better tests let you rank from 0 to 5, but even with those tests I was through the roof. The Yes/No tests remind me of Mitch Hedberg's physical questionnaire: "Have you ever tried sugar or PCP?"
